Centennial of Success: Businesses in the Village of Oriskany (1876-1976)
On Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 2:00 pm, the Oriskany Museum will host a presentation by Battle of Oriskany Historical Society President Melissa Enos on the history of local businesses in the Village of Oriskany from 1876-1976. This presentation is free and open to the public.
Enos’ presentation will include some photographs from the Shirley Burtch Collection, along with classic postcards of Oriskany, lesser seen photographs, and stories of well-known businesses such as the Plaza Inn (Oriskany Hotel), Moulton’s Liquor, Fiore’s Market, Enos’ Card Shop, Jones’, Trinkaus Manor, and more. Anyone with stories or photos to share is encouraged to contact the Oriskany Museum (oriskanymuseum.com).
The Oriskany Museum is located at 420 Utica Street in the Village of Oriskany just off State Route 69 between the cities of Utica and Rome. The museum collection focuses on the Battle of Oriskany, the Village of Oriskany, and the USS Oriskany CV-CVA 34. The museum is currently open Thursdays from 5:30-7:30 pm and Saturdays from 12-4 pm.
